MEDICONNECT PARTICIPATES IN PRESIDENT OBAMA`S WHITE HOUSE REGIONAL FORUM ON HEALTH REFORM

President Obama Holds Invite Only Health Forum

SALT LAKE CITY, UT, March 30, 2009 —  MediConnect Global, Inc. was invited to participate in one of President Obama’s five invitation only White House Regional Forums on Health Reform. This invitation came because MediConnect Global Inc. hosts an online repository of over five million digitized patient medical records to date, and is leading the charge toward consumer controlled personal health records.

The forums bring together Americans across the region, key healthcare stakeholders, and elected officials across both sides of the political aisle to discuss what must be done to change America’s healthcare system. MediConnect attended the northeast forum co-hosted by Vermont Governor, Jim Douglas, Massachusetts Governor, Deval Patrick, and Director of the White House Office of Health Reform, Nancy-Ann DeParle.

MediConnect CEO, Amy Rees Anderson, said, “MediConnect was honored by the invitation to participate in this national forum of top health leaders, elected officials and concerned citizens. As an expert in digitizing patient medical records, MediConnect is making significant strides to drive the effort to improve healthcare for consumers. We look forward to continued participation in future healthcare forums and conferences.”

President Obama has called these meetings a “first step” on the road to healthcare reform. On February 17, 2009 President Obama signed the stimulus bill into law.  In the bill, Obama allocated $19 billion dollars to electronic health records, $1.1 billion dollars for research in the treatment of diseases, and $1.1 billion dollars for a prevention and wellness fund, all in order to lower the cost of healthcare for Americans.

“Health care reform is no longer just a moral imperative, it is a fiscal imperative. If we want to create jobs and rebuild our economy, then we must address the crushing cost of health care this year, in this Administration,” said Obama.

Michigan, Vermont, and Iowa, have already hosted the White House regional forums on health reform, North Carolina and California are hosting forums within the next two weeks.
