MEDICONNECT GLOBAL OPENS A SECOND UTAH-BASED OPERATIONS CENTER
New State-of-the-Art Center in Ephraim Opens Rural Utah to the World; New Jobs, Future Growth and Technology Boost Local Economy
SALT LAKE CITY, UT, November 6, 2006 — MediConnect Global, Inc. (www.mediconnect.net), an industry leader in online retrieval and delivery of medical records for the insurance and legal industries, today announced the opening of a new operations center in Ephraim, Utah. The new center will initially employ approximately 100 new record acquisition specialists who are responsible to work with medical facilities and physicians to fulfill medical record requests for MediConnect clients nationwide, and eventually, around the globe.
Working closely with the state’s Department of Economic Development, the company was able to identify an area of the state that had the potential for developing a world-class center at highly competitive rates. Ephraim, a town of 4,500 at the geographic center of Utah, is home to Snow College.
This is an exciting opportunity for our company,” said Amy Rees Lewis, CEO of MediConnect. “The people in this area have shown strong commitment, the ability to learn quickly and a great work ethic – all qualities that will make them highly competitive to any market. We look forward to building and growing this type of capability right here in Utah.”
Operating out of a facility that was formerly part of Snow College, the MediConnect center is capable of expanding to approximately three times its present size. The company will install state-of-the-art technology that will put MediConnect’s patented process and service capabilities in these new service representatives’ hands and connect them to customers virtually anywhere in the world.
“This new facility will be a great boost to the economy and families of the Ephraim area,” said Chris Roybal, Senior Economic Advisor to Utah Governor Jon Huntsman, Jr. “This is exactly the kind of win-win scenario our office hopes to see more of in the future. It gives rural Utah economies a boost through access to the same types of jobs and technology that are available in larger urban areas, and participating companies obtain a high quality workforce at attractive rates.
The MediConnect service center is expected to be fully staffed and operational by the end of this year, and will be expanded on an as-needed basis as demand for the company’s services continues to grow.
