Amy Rees Lewis, Finalist for 2006 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award

Amy Rees Lewis isn't afraid to point out that the financial side of business is often her weak point. But what she may lack in accounting skills she makes up for in sales and leadership. Over the years, she has learned that a good leader inspires rather than commands. "People will work their guts out for you if they know you are genuine in caring about their success," Lewis says.

That philosophy has clearly worked for Lewis as CEO of MediConnect, A Sandy-based medical record retrieval company. Two years ago, Lewis was asked to lead the struggling company to profitability. She has achieved that, and the company is now the leading record retrieval company in the legal industry and will soon be gathering 60,000 records per month, a 600 percent increase.
