Joel Portice
President, Verisk Health
Joel Portice serves as President of MediConnect Global and President of Verisk Health, a Verisk Analytics company. In this role, Joel is responsible for the overall performance and strategic direction of the company. Previously, Joel was President and CEO of Intelimedix, a healthcare data analytics and software company. Joel also served as COO at HCI,where he developed and executed the growth strategy, including product management, financial performance and product enhancements and direction while also leading overall operations with profit and loss oversight. Before joining HCI, he cofounded Enclarity, Inc., a healthcare information management and analytics solutions company.
Prior to launching Enclarity, he was VP of Healthcare and Insurance Analytics for Fair Isaac Corporation. Joel also cofounded Integrity Plus Services, a cost-containment software and services company that served the healthcare and insurance markets. IPS was acquired by UnitedHealth Group and became part of its Ingenix subsidiary.
Joel received his bachelor of science degree from the University of South Dakota and a master of arts degree from Hamline University. He is a member of the board of trustees for Hamline University and the board of advisors for the Center for Health Care Management and Policy of the Paul Merage School of Business at the University of California, Irvine.
Jamie Wells
President, Revenue & Quality Intelligence
Jamie Wells has extensive healthcare and disease management expertise with specific areas of focus in performance improvement, quality, data management, metrics management, application development, reporting, and business intelligence. Jamie is often sought out for his opinions, commentary and expertise; referenced in national publications and asked to present to numerous health care trade associations. Prior to joining Verisk Health, Jamie held Vice President positions with WellPoint, one of the nation’s largest health plans, and with EDS, a Fortune 500 national and international IT services company. With over 30 years of business management and information technology experience, he has streamlined operations and delivered solutions to government and commercial clients across the U.S. and abroad. Jamie holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Kennedy-Western University.
Eric Quigley
Chief Operations Officer, Revenue & Quality Intelligence
As Chief Operations Officer, Eric Quigley is responsible for the operational excellence of MediConnect’s entire record retrieval process including customer relations, technical operations and ensuring timely access to patient medical records. He has more than a decade of experience in the medical industry, creating first-class customer support and service centers, and guiding IT and operations centers from infancy to viability. Prior to joining MediConnect, Eric served as Director of Operations and IT Services for PracticeRx, a leading medical practice management system. He also served as Vice President of Client Services for PerfectPractice where he managed both the acquisition and retention side of customer relations. During his tenure PerfectPractice acquired more than 2,000 physician and medical facilities as clients.
Maria Calcaterra
Chief Compliance Officer, Revenue & Quality Intelligence
Maria Calcaterra is the Chief Compliance Officer of the Revenue & Quality Intelligence Division. Maria has over twenty years of domestic and international experience managing operations, compliance and quality assurance under commercial time constraints and rigid standards imposed by multiple US and European regulatory agencies. Originally trained as a microbiologist with a degree from Georgia Tech and multiple certifications in electron microscopy, her executive career has focused on the production management of highly sensitive client information regulated and certified by agencies to include not only CMS but also the FDA, EPA, NIOSH, NIST and the French L'Institut National de l'Environnement Industriel et des Risques (INERIS).
In addition to healthcare, her management and consulting experience includes the financial services and environmental industries in operations across the U.S. as well as Paris and Lyon, France.
Kim Bresnan
Executive VP, Client Development, Revenue & Quality Intelligence
Kim Bresnan serves as the Executive Vice President of Client Development for MediConnect Global. Kim is responsible for the strategic growth initiatives and client development activities for all lines of business; ensuring that the company’s products and services are fully aligned with its clients’ health information needs. With over 20 years of experience in the health care industry, Kim has directed Medicare revenue management and operations teams and managed strategic initiatives that included product development and health plan acquisitions. Today, she brings an extensive understanding of revenue and quality management to MediConnect. Her health plan experience spans national and international markets where she supported industry-leading managed care health plans including US Healthcare, Aetna, Aveta and most recently, WellPoint. Kim holds a BA in Accounting from Marietta College in Ohio.
Krishna Kandula
Senior VP, Reporting & Analytics, Revenue & Quality Intelligence
Krishna Kandula serves as Sr. Vice President of Reporting & Analytics for the Revenue and Quality Intelligence (RQI) division of Verisk Health. He is responsible for overall reporting solutions, analytics support, and product development initiatives that unify Risk Adjustment, Medicare STARS, HEDIS and pay-for-performance reporting solutions. Krishna has over 18 years of experience in the healthcare industry and has previously served as Vice President of Technology for the Verisk Health Performance Measurement division—formerly known as Tiermed Systems. In this capacity, he played an integral part in building and delivering the HEDIS solution to support multiple delivery models to existing clients. Prior to joining Verisk Health, Krishna worked as a senior analyst for The HealthCare Group in Indianapolis; supporting HEDIS, physician profiling, provider/member outreach and various other reporting initiatives. Krishna holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Osmania University, India.
Marc Wise
Senior VP, Business Development, Revenue & Quality Intelligence
Marc Wise has over 15 years of experience in building business service organizations. Before joining Verisk Health, he served as Chief Operating Officer for FedMed, Inc. a provider of network whitespace outsourcing based in Rockville, MD. He spent the eight years prior to FedMed as a Senior Vice President for NCO Group, Inc., a global business process outsource solutions company. Prior to 1995, Mr. Wise worked for DiMark, Inc, a preeminent health care and insurance direct marketing company, where he provided direct marketing consulting services. Marc holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Delaware Valley College.
John H. Bowen
Controller, Revenue & Quality Intelligence
John H. Bowen serves as Controller for the Revenue & Quality Intelligence Division of Verisk Health. He brings more than 15 years of professional accounting experience and a strong background in process development and improvement to the organization, including special expertise in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and manufacturing operations optimization. John previously served as VP of Finance at DEI Systems Inc., Director of Finance at Parvus Corporation, Assistant Controller at Vantage Controls and Chief Financial Officer and consultant Controller for clients of Business Resource Network. John holds a Certified Public Account (CPA) title and a Masters of Accountancy degree from Brigham Young University.
