Client Spotlight: Catholic Family
Life Insurance
As the first and oldest Catholic fraternal
insurance society in the U.S., we specialize in life insurance,
annuities, and fraternal benefits designed for today's Catholic
families. We also support programs promoting volunteerism and
fostering spiritual, social and educational well-being. Families are
the heart of what we do.
Based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, CFLI has its roots in the second
half of the 19th century, in the early years after the American
Civil War. At that time, countless families experienced
heartbreaking losses due to the war's devastation and outbreaks of
smallpox. Families were left with unimaginable financial
hardship.
The Most Rev. John Martin Henni, first bishop of
Milwaukee, gathered leaders of area Catholic benevolent societies
and together they devised a ground-breaking concept combining the
philosophy of brotherhood with life insurance. In 1868, CFLI became
"America's first Catholic fraternal benefit society."
As a fraternal society, we have a network of local chapters
that sponsor a variety of social, family, religious, charitable, and
volunteer activities. From children's Christmas parties to Join
Hands Day and Adopt-a-School projects, members are invited to attend
these events and participate in the Catholic Family
"family."
Chapter members are the heart of our organization. With the
assistance of volunteer officers, members carry out numerous social,
civic, benevolent, patriotic, and religious activities throughout
the year.

Individuals Take Control of Their
Health
Now more than ever, people want
control of their own health care. They want to be involved in
the health decisions affecting the well-being of themselves
and their families. Access to personal medical records is a
vital part of this control.
In a video currently posted on the
MediConnect web site, MediConnect CEO, Amy Rees Anderson,
discusses how consumers owning personal copies of their
medical records gives them more power over their health
decisions. She discusses the importance of interpreting
and understanding the information and how MediConnect can help
to "mine" data for use in Google Health.
