MediConnect Global Newsletter for the Insurance Community

October 2007

Welcome to Connections

As we approach the end of the year, MediConnect Global understands that the insurance business will naturally "ramp up." In preparation for this additional demand, we have added several new enhancements to our online process to help streamline the rapid retrieval of APS's while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

This issue of Connections discusses these new enhancements in detail, while also outlining some of our processes to showcase the behind-the-scenes operations at MediConnect.  We have also added information on ways to utilize MediConnect's online billing.

If you are planning on attending NAILBA in Florida this year, we look forward to connecting with you in person!

As always we appreciate your feedback.  What we received from the last issue was great, and we look forward to more feedback and suggestions with this issue.

Sincerely,

William Donahoo

New Features in RapidRetrieve

RapidRetrieve has recently been updated with more features to make the records retrieval process even more user-friendly, simple and beneficial.  Some highlights of this latest release include:

  • Authorizations (previously submitted through fax, mail or email) now can be up-loaded directly into RapidRetrieve through a "browse / upload" feature.  To set up this new feature for your account, please contact your Account Manager.
  • On the "Details of Request" screen the "Notes" entered by retrieval agents will now include an "MT" to indicate the note was entered on "Mountain Time."
  • All records with the status "No-Patient" or "No-Record" will have a link with the same description to eliminate confusion regarding the type of information MediConnect has received from the provider.
  • Section headers on the preferences page have been updated for greater consistency throughout the website.

Speed and Accuracy: The MediConnect Process for Delivering Medical Records

Speed and Accuracy with the MediConnect ProcessMediConnect is well known for the ability to deliver digitized medical records quickly and accurately.  As a client, perhaps you've wondered how the process works.  It all begins with the skill and professionalism of the Record Processing Department, responsible for the receipt, handling, and digitizing of all incoming medical records.

Once a record is received by Record Processing, it is scanned into our system by high-speed digital scanners.  The scanned records are then imported into an image processing system called "MIPS."  Using this system, highly trained and experienced specialists carefully review each digital record, associating the proper pages to the proper record request using key information such as:

·         Patient name

·         Patient DOB

·         Patient SSN

·         Provider name

·         Provider phone/fax number

·         MediConnect request ID number

·         Request type (medical, billing, pharmacy, employment, etc.)

Once associated, records are placed into a verification queue where a second group of trained specialists review them again to confirm the association was done correctly.  After this second verification, the completed records are ready to be downloaded at the client's convenience.

For additional information on how the MediConnect process delivers your records to you quickly and accurately, please contact your account manager.  We also recommend viewing a video overview of our record retrieval system hosted by Amy Rees Lewis, CEO, at www.mediconnect.net.

Capitas Financial, LLC - The O'Brien Financial Group, Inc.

The O'Brien Financial Group, Inc. (partner of Capitas Financial, LLC) is an independent life insurance brokerage general agency providing product expertise to clients of banks, stock brokerage firms, property and casualty insurance agencies and independent financial planners.

When O'Brien first began looking for a medical record retrieval system, integration with an agency management software system was a primary consideration.  Additionally, they wanted to build in-house capabilities while investigating different vendors.  Their search led them to MediConnect's RapidRetrieve™ web-based solution, which provided the speed, simplicity and cost-effectiveness the company demanded.
